Dr Lawrence has more than 20 years experience in planning, implementing managing technology deployments in Australia and overseas. According to his LinkedIn profile, Dr Lawrence was also CIO at ANZ Bank in New Zealand between 2008 and 2011. He has also held various senior roles with Royal Dutch Shell in Australia, the United Kingdom and Japan. He was awarded a PhD in chemistry from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom in 1988. Dr Lawrence was “selected from a highly competitive field of public and private sector candidates,” according to the Defence spokesperson. His start date is yet to be determined.
