ANZ on Friday announced an upgrade to its internet banking platform, claiming it’s the first major Australian bank to offer a consistent experience to 2.1 million customers across desktop, tablet, and mobile. The bank also said it has strengthened the security of the website with ‘ANZ Shield’. This feature authenticates transactions and activities using a one-time security code to allow customers to increase ‘pay anyone’; limits or instantly reset their passwords. Other additions include the ability for businesses to approve payments on-the-go using mobile internet banking; new menu navigation to update contact details, pay bills or open new accounts; and a new design where accounts look like the card in a customer’s wallet. ANZ managing director, products and marketing, Matthew Boss, said smartphones are expected to account for 90 per cent of all internet traffic by 2020 and more customers wanted to do their banking using digital channels. “We also know we need to continue to make banking as simple and secure as possible.” “The upgrade complements our existing mobile application, ANZ goMoney, and allows customers to do more of their banking when and how they want with no instructions required,” said Boss. The goMoney app enables users to quickly view their account balances and last five transactions on their smartphones. The app was launched in 2010 and has more than 1.4 million users with an average of one million logins per day. Last September, the bank said the Android and iOS versions of the app had reached $100 billion in transactions. ANZ customers will be able to access the new site from this weekend.
