CIOs seeking refuge from IT headaches may find escaping to the golf course a little easier following a new partnership between Golf Australia and iseekgolf.com. Together the organisations have rolled out what they claim is Australia’s first national real time golf booking system, which enables social golfers to book a round online at hundreds of courses around Australia Under the partnership Iseekgolf.com will provide the technology and management services, while Golf Australia encourages club participation and markets the online application. Iseekgolf.com will continue to offer bookings through its existing Web site while supporting applications through an independent Golf Australia Web site and through third parties keen to promote the game. The site’s search engine lets would-be golfers specify options such as date, hiring of a golf cart, number of holes etc. The site then gives users a list of available courses matching those criteria and the green light for a round of golf. Clicking on a course will bring up a booking and payments engine with further options for the number of players and credit card details. Golf Australia is the national sporting organisation for golf in Australia and the governing body for amateur golf. Iseekgolf.com was launched in 2000 and has become the Australia’s most popular golf Web site with over 280,000 unique monthly visitors and close to 100,000 registered members.
