Disability service provider, Activ, is seeking a chief information officer to drive its information technology (IT) and information management (IM) businesses.

The role is newly created, with the CIO to oversee four IT staff, including the IT manager.

However, an Activ spokesperson told CIO Australia that the role is largely “project-based” and involved in “strategic decision-making”.

The CIO will report directly to the organisation’s chief financial officer, Danielle Newport, and will be based in Wembley, Perth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and management of Activ’s IT and IM strategic plans, policies and work programs. This includes establishing risk management controls, identifying emerging information technologies and managing company records.

Applicants must have at least five years’ experience in a senior role dealing with IT and IM systems management, as well as carry an IT tertiary qualification.

They must also have proven experience in strategic planning, IT policy formulation and delivery of IT services, in addition to experience in budget planning, monitoring, and reporting.

Activ provides accommodation, employment, recreation, transport and community support to people with disabilities and their families in Western Australia.

Applications close on 26 March 2012.
