Simon Wheeler new Brennan IT CIO

Managed service provider, Brennan IT, has appointed former Bauer Media CIO, Simon Wheeler as its new IT chief.

Wheeler has spent the past 12 months as a director at consulting and technology firm, Oakton after spending just over two-and-a-half years at Bauer. He had previously spent almost 10 years at Nine Entertainment Co.

Wheeler will develop and manage Brennan IT’s internal technology strategy with a major focus on the transformation of its current IT systems and processes to automate, standardise the implement best practices, the company said.

Brennan IT, CEO, Stephen Sims said in a statement: “Simon has more than 20 years of experience in senior roles with a strong track record as a tech leader as well as developing, recruiting and retaining top talent. He has been successful in delivering transformational initiatives, and working in complex, challenges environments.”

In early 2014, while at Bauer Media, Wheeler moved the media company off shared services at Nine Entertainment and set up a standalone network. This followed Bauer’s acquisition of Nine’s publishing arm, ACP, in 2012.
