GovDC marketplace powered by ServiceNow and UXC Keystone

The NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation (DFSI) has selected ServiceNow as the primary platform for the new GovDC marketplace, a portal that enables government agencies to enquire and procure services of approved ICT vendors.

The ‘one-stop-shop’ marketplace standardises the way services are engaged and consumed.

The project will utilise UXC Keystone’s ‘KeySite’ product for the CMS requirement, and leverage ServiceNow’s Service Catalog functionality for the ‘vendor services’ requirement. Approved vendors are able to market their services and self-manage the services they offer to the agencies.

Government agencies using the portal will also be able to track and report on services requested and have full visibility and auditability of interactions with vendors in the GovDC marketplace.

DFSI executive director of government technology platforms, Pedro Harris, said the ServiceNow platform facilitates a connection between agencies and vendors to provide a secure service delivery portal. “To improve service quality, all Government agencies are required to migrate to GovDC by August, 2017. This consolidation will mean a significant reduction in ICT service costs, and the GovDC marketplace will connect agencies and suppliers in a way never before possible,” said Harris.

The latest rollout of the ServiceNow platform is all part of the NSW Government’s ICT transformation plan, which began in 2012, and aims to adopt a new approach to the use of ICT. Already, the government has consolidated 130 datacentres down to two – one in Silverwater and one in Wollongong and the transition of 160 government agencies, DFSI said in a statement.

The new datacentres will support this new approach to buying and using ICT services, and allow large and small agencies to access ICT-as-a-Service without major capital expenditure, DFSI added, explaining approved vendors with access to the marketplace are able to offer government agencies a wide range of services, on and off premise via GovDC Cloudconnect. “This project really exemplifies the versatility of the ServiceNow platform and the speed at which our solution can be implemented across a complex, multi-tenant environment,” said ServiceNow managing director ANZ, David Oakley.

UXC Keystone business development manager, Joss Keep, said the adoption of the platform, which accelerates DFSI’s time to value and enhances the user experience, was welcomed by the department.
