The NSW government claims it will make it easier for technology suppliers to provide enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to agencies as part of its procurement reforms. The government has created a new category – a one stop shop for ERP as-a-service – inside its ICT Services Scheme, aimed at simplifying the procurement process for agencies and suppliers. NSW minster for finance and services Dominic Perrottet announced the changes ahead of a meeting with the United Kingdom’s CTO, Denise McDonagh, at Parliament House. “There are a lot of similarities between the work that Denise and her colleagues are doing in the UK and what we are achieving here in NSW with governments from both jurisdictions moving to more as-a-service and cloud-based offerings,” he said. Under the model, services will be provided to multiple agencies, reducing the cost of ERP implementations, the government claimed. “Previously suppliers had to register across multiple agencies and it was difficult for them to highlight the full range of services they could offer. These changes bring them all together in a single category, Perrottet said. The scheme will make corporate and shared services government process standards available to suppliers that obtain registration. “This will make standards more widely available, and will enable suppliers to tailor their solutions to meet government needs,” Perrottet said. “It will make the system fairer for both large and small suppliers. Previously these standards were only available to those who had a contract with government.” Follow CIO Australia on Twitter and Like us on Facebook… Twitter: @CIO_Australia, Facebook: CIO Australia, or take part in the CIO conversation on LinkedIn: CIO Australia Follow Byron Connolly on Twitter:@ByronConnolly Related content BrandPost The future of trust—no more playing catch up Broadcom: 2023 Tech Trends That Transform IT By Eric Chien, Director of Security Response, Symantec Enterprise Division, Broadcom Mar 31, 2023 5 mins Security BrandPost TCS gives Blackhawk Network an edge with Microsoft Cloud In this case study, Blackhawk Network’s Cara Renfroe joins Tata Consultancy Services’ Rakesh Kumar and Microsoft’s Nilendu Pattanaik to explain how TCS transformed the gift card company’s customer engagement and global operati By Tata Consultancy Services Mar 31, 2023 1 min Financial Services Industry Cloud Computing IT Leadership BrandPost How TCS pioneered the ‘borderless workspace’ with Microsoft 365 Microsoft’s modern workplace solution proved a perfect fit for improving productivity and collaboration, while maintaining security of systems and data.
