UXC merges IT businesses to form UXC Connect

IT infrastructure and services businesses UXC Connect, Integ and XSI Data Solutions have been merged by parent company UXC Limited and now fall under the UXC Connect brand from July 1.

Integ CEO Ian Poole has transitioned to CEO of the new consolidated company.

From the new financial year, UXC Connect will have some 650 employees and projected first-year revenues of $235 million.

Poole said the task to integrate the companies began 12 months ago and some 50 projects were completed mostly by in-house staff to unify the internal infrastructure.

A new CIO for UXC Connect will also be appointed from July 1.

“By merging the companies under UXC Connect we can provide more synergy and scale for customers and better compete with the Tier ones,” Poole said at the Sydney announcement.

“We will remain innovative and work with our technology partners to deliver business outcomes.”

UXC Connect’s core IT practices are contact centre solutions; enterprise mobility; data centre optimisation; security; workspace innovation; and entertainment and content.

The portfolio includes hosted applications and IaaS and Poole said Cloud computing services will be used to support broader solutions for customers.

UXC Limited managing director, Cris Nicolli, said the move is part of a broader strategy to simplify customer engagement and marketing activities and keep the company focused on ICT.

“This plan has take three to four years to get to this phase, but it is a complex process,” Nicolli said. “I want to create a pure ICT company and we will divest the non-IT businesses.”

UXC Limited has about 1800 people working in IT roles out of a total of 4000 staff.

Nicolli said the company is watching the Cloud space with interest, which, he said, could be quite disruptive in the ERP space.

“We have 17 senior CIOs on our customer advisory panel and they are all looking at Cloud but are not going to deploy it for highly strategic parts of their business,” he said.

Companies on UXC’s CIO advisory panel include Auspost, Medibank Private and Sydney Water.

Poole said the new UXC Connect is now be the largest Australian-owned ICT infrastructure solutions and services company.

“We already offer Cloud-based communications as a service and have about 10,000 users hosted on our communications infrastructure Cloud,” he said.
