IT services company Datacom has purchased a Perth-based data centre in Western Australia; an acquisition worth more than $10 million to the company. The purchase comes after the company invested $40 million into building a new data centre in Auckland last year. The WA data centre is the ninth centre to be established in the state, according to the company. The Perth iX centre includes biometrics and smartcard-controlled access to computer rooms, video monitoring and recording, 24/7 monitoring and remote access to the site. Managing director for Datacom Systems WA, Basil Lenzo, said the centre will provide greater solutions to the WA enterprise. “We provide the WA market with a unique system integrator capability that offers the true competitive advantage of providing ITC solutions from the desktop through to hosting and managed services,” he said in a statement.
