Real estate firm, REA Group (ASX: REA), has hired a new chief information officer, Nigel Dalton. Dalton is to replace the firm’s outgoing CIO of three years, Daniel Oertli. Oertli is due to leave the company on 11 May to concentrate on new business ventures. Dalton will begin his new role on 4 June this year and will be based in Melbourne. Dalton has held a number of roles including Australian general manager of IT at travel publisher, Lonely Planet, from 2007 to 2011 and recently co-founded IT consultancy firm, Luna Tractor. REA Group managing director and chief executive, Greg Ellis, said in a statement that Dalton’s passion for technology would be “invaluable” as the company looks to grow its business in Australia and overseas. REA Group currently operates property websites in Australia, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, France and Hong Kong. “I would like to thank Daniel Oertli for providing outstanding technology leadership over the past three years and wish him all the very best for the future,” Ellis said.
