The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) is seeking to recruit a lead data scientist to provide insights for its Customer Engagement and Decision Science (CEDS) team. Based in the bank’s Sydney head office, the newly created full time role will involve data mining, machine learning, and leveraging Hadoop and big data capabilities. The lead data scientist will also be tasked with producing a roadmap and business plan and drive ongoing strategy for CEDS’s RD. CBA said it is looking for experience in commercial modelling/analytical experience, understanding of advanced statistical algorithms, and experience with big data and Hadoop platforms. Soft skills needed in the role include being able to communicate effectively to a non-technical audience; stakeholder, project and people management; and a good understanding of the financial service industry and how analytics impacts business. The job was advertised on Seek today. Applications close 14 October. CBA was unable to provide further details regarding the role.
