New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has put out a call for Aussie workers to join the NZ’s booming economy with 50,000 jobs – many in IT – being created over the next two years. The New Zealand IT industry has the fastest growth index of any industry in the country and is expected to be one of the leading export earners within six years, MBIE said. MBIE’s Nigel Bickle said there are professional development opportunities for Australian workers who want to make the move to NZ and for Kiwi expats to return home. “Our economy is thriving and some of our companies are growing at a very fast rate,” he said. “They need skilled and experienced employees to continue building on successes to date.” MBIE and Working In will hold the Sydney New Zealand Job Expo this week at Sydney Town Hall where more than 35 Kiwi companies will be on show. NZ-based IT companies, including Fiserv, Trade Me and Eroad, will hold walk-in interviews and making on-the-spot job offers to suitable candidates. Financial services tech provider, Fiserv, is looking for mobile developers for its mobile banking, alerting and payment solutions business. Online notice board, Trade Me has a few roles on offer for SQL database staff, and mobile and .Net developers.
