Former IDC Australia director of research Matthew Oostveen has joined converged infrastructure firm VCE as its Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) CTO. The CTO role is a newly created one. According to VCE, Oostveen was hired to drive market share growth and win new business in the region. He had spent six years at IDC Australia covering services, software, telecommunications and infrastructure. Prior to this, Oostveen worked at Microsoft as a competitive strategy manager and at IBM Australia and New Zealand as Linux sales manager. VCE APJ vice president Paul Harapin said he had “great respect” for Oostveen and his experience in charting the technology landscape. “Matthew’s knowledge of regional differences as well as his technical expertise in cloud computing and IT infrastructure make him a natural choice for VCE,” he said in a statement. An IDC Australia spokeswoman said that IDC New Zealand country manager Ullrich Loeffler was directing the research team in the interim until a replacement director of research was hired.
