The NSW Cancer Institute is calling for applications to fill the newly created role of CIO to head up the organisation’s ICT team.

Reporting to the chief operating officer, the successful candidate will develop technology solutions and services to aid its NSW Cancer Plan and Cancer Information strategy.

The organisation, established in July 2003, works to promote innovation in cancer diagnosis, treatment, care and prevention.

The role is advertised on Seek.

A spokesperson for the institute could not comment on why the role has been created. The advertisement calls for experience at a senior level in the development, management and implementation of major technology systems. Team management and business planning skills are also required.

The institute is offering a salary of $181,651-$194,850 for the role; 9.4 per cent of participants in the 2010 Australian State of the CIO survey earned salaries in this range.

Applications close 11 July.
