Bank of Queensland appoints Donna Vinci as new IT chief

Bank of Queensland has appointed Insurance Australia Group’s CIO, Donna Vinci, as its new technology chief, following a restructure which will see current CIO, Julie Bale leave the bank.

Vinci is the new group executive, enterprise solutions following a decision to combine the BOQ’s IT, operations and project office teams.

BOQ CEO, Jon Sutton, said the new structure would improve the bank’s delivery capability and efficiency.

“Given these teams already work closely, it makes sense to combine them into one business area to better deliver the key projects we’re working on,” he said in a statement.

Sutton said he was delighted to welcome Vinci to the bank, particularly given her breadth of experience in areas including operations and technology and her track record of delivering digital disruption and transformative projects for major financial services groups.

Sutton acknowledged Julie Bale’s efforts over the past two years. Bale delivered several transformation projects including transitioning IT to new state-of-the-art headquarters in Newstead and an end user computing program.

Vinci will start at the bank on July 27.
