THE NEW ZEALAND Automobile Association (NZAA or AA) is an incorporated society that provides a range of services to its members including free motoring advice, breakdown services, vehicle repairs, driver licensing, driver training, travel maps, accommodation guides and bookings, insurance and finance.

CIO Doug Wilson leads a team of 30 – up from 25 in 2015 – working with the association’s 1000 staff members.

Wilson says a primary project for the team this year is web enabling key applications.

NZAA has over 100 driver licensing outlets throughout the country, and its systems entail integration with several partner organisations such as the NZ Transport Agency and the Inland Revenue Department.

The website is becoming a critical channel for NZAA to reach its members and the public. The website is designed to enable the different AA brands and businesses to communicate their messages on the shared website.

NZAA has taken a mobile-led approach to the design and user experience in response to the growing number of users whose main access to the website is through their mobile devices.
