Tracy Voice has been appointed CIO/director of business technology and information services at Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Before this, she was on contract as programme manager at MAF, working on the latter#8217;s merger with the Ministry of Fisheries. She will report to Nigel Prince, deputy director general corporate services at MAF. Prince was MAF CIO when he stepped up into this role during a restructuring that merged MAF with Fisheries and Food Safety Authority. In this role, he is responsible for finance, IT, HR and legal. Therefore Voice#8217;s appointment will be for a new CIO role #8211; effectively covering the organisation borne from this merger. Her previous role included being general manager, business enabling at NZ Post where she launched the first commercial corporate deployment of Google enterprise applications in the Asia Pacific. Voice left NZ Post in January 2011 and became a business consultant. #8220;It is quite nice to go back to the [CIO] chair,#8221; she says. She cites the importance of #8220;having an open mind#8221; as one of the key lessons learned in her transition from CIO to consultant. #8220;The nice thing about consulting is you become absolutely engaged with the business,#8221; she says.
