The Tertiary Education Commission is recruiting for the newly-created role of deputy chief executive information and chief information officer.

The role was created following an “organisational realignment” which also saw the creation of two deputy chief executive positions, for finance and operations, respectively.

Applications for the role close on Wednesday, 6 November.

The current CIO role, held by Para Ganesan, was disestablished.

Until the new structure takes place, Ganesan will continue the CIO role, and is also concurrent general manager corporate services. Ganesan had reported to the executive holding the second role but who left after the announcement of the reorganisation.

An advertisement for the role says TEC CEO Tim Fowler is looking for an “exceptional business focused” CIO, who will bring “bold, innovative leadership” to the commission’s ICT and Information Directorate. The directorate is responsible for end to end ownership and accountability for all information systems supporting the operations of the broader organisation.

Fowler, who was appointed in April, also explained the new role in a video.

The role is likewise responsible for leading internal development and operational delivery of information and ICT tool to the commission including sector wide data collection, data quality and alignment of systems and tools, and data information and security.
