Australian spending on business process management (BPM) software will have double digit growth this year, according to analyst firm Gartner. Gartner is forecasting Australian spending of $70 million on BPM suites in 2013. The projected growth in spending of 10.4 per cent over last year is slightly higher than the worldwide forecast of 9.5 per cent growth in spending. A number of acquisitions of BPM software vendors, as well as a number of large vendors, including Adobe and Progress Software, shifting their focus have impacted on spending on BPM suites, according to Gartner. “As public companies in a market full of privately held companies, these exits have raised red flags for customers and prospects, and will impact overall market revenue growth,” said Gartner vice-president Janelle Hill. “Some of this installed base may be replaced in the two years following these vendors’ announcements. Despite consolidation pressures; however, we also continue to see many new BPMS market entrants.” The analyst firm expects worldwide spending on BPM suites to hit $2.8 billion this year.
