On Friday (28 September) Microsoft announced its Singapore Partner Awards for the year during an evening themed #winningtogether.

With more than 200 partners attending the event, the technology giant recognised local and regional partners who have demonstrated excellence in innovation and implementation of customer solutions based on Microsoft technology.

The awards also celebrate learning partners, technology for social impact, and partner excellence in technology and/or sales recognition working in Singapore.

Quoting a study carried out in collaboration with IDC Asia Pacific, Gerald Leo, Director for One Commercial Partner, and Small & Midmarket Corporate at Microsoft Singapore, said that by 2021, approximately 60 percent of the city-state’s GDP will be derived from digital products and services, adding an estimated US$10 billion to the local economy.

“Last year, I made the point that the Microsoft partner ecosystem is a unique one that holds the key to accelerating digital transformation of organisations in Singapore, and I believe that the best is yet to come”, said Leo.

Microsoft Singapore was recently awarded Subsidiary of the Year 2018 for the Medium Developed cluster at Microsoft Ready in Las Vegas.

Country Partner of the Year

The Singapore Partner Awards 2018 were presented for 16 categories, with award finalists and winners selected based on their commitment to customers, their solutions’ impact on the market and the exemplary use of Microsoft technologies.

The Country Partner of the Year, which is the top partner award, went to Ingram Micro Asia Ltd, the Singaporean arm of the American distributor of computer and technology products. The firm also received the Cloud Solution Provider (Indirect) partner of the year award.

“Ingram Micro in the last four years has moved towards a cloud model as has Microsoft,” said Francis Choo, vice president and chief executive, ASEAN and HK at Ingram Micro. “We have bet very big on Microsoft. We are trying to create our own marketplace across the region so while Microsoft transformed we collectively transformed with them.”

Artificial Intelligence and Analytics Partner

Advisory firm Ernst & Young won the Artificial Intelligence and Analytics Partner of the Year Award, which recognises a partner who has designed, developed and deployed Azure-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions and an analytics solution in production with their customers.

“To help our clients navigate this transformative age, we are combining our deep insights and experience in emerging technologies, markets and sectors with Microsoft’s scalable, enterprise cloud technologies, to jointly develop innovative digital solutions”, explained Cheang Wai Keat, Head of Advisory, Ernst & Young Advisory Pte Ltd.

“This distinguished award affirms our investment in digital capabilities, and leadership in designing, developing and deploying AI and analytics solutions that are helping our clients thrive in this data-driven economy. We will continue our investments in our talent and technology capabilities to provide our clients with the ability to better navigate the industry disruptions ahead”, he continued.
