Regardless of party affiliation, the candidates used technology to help attract newly registered voters, provide targeted polling analysis, and they largely executed their campaigns via viral social media. The campaigns showcased many peaks and valleys, but it’s nothing but upward trajectories for the following newly appointed CIOs! Barry Simpson was promoted from Coca-Cola’s global head of business unit IT services to CIO. Kevin Carl joined Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group as executive vice president and CIO. Previously, Carl served as global managing director of digital travel at Accenture. Atish Banerjea joined Facebook as CIO. Banerjea was previously executive vice president and CIO of NBC Universal. Petco appointed John Zavada as senior vice president and CIO. Previously, Zavada held the same roles at Restoration Hardware. Atilla Tinic was promoted from senior vice president of IT to CIO of Level 3 Communications. Sanjib Sahoo is now CIO of transport for XPO Logistics. Sahoo was previously CIO and CTO for tradeMONSTER. Richard Lowery joined W.R. Berkley as senior vice president and CIO. Lowery will oversee all IT operations within the company. NetApp announced the appointment of Bill Miller as CIO. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and CIO at Broadcom. Markus Nordlin joined QBE North America as global CIO. Nordlin was formerly group CIO and group head of operations with Zurich Insurance. Dave Lardy, Patterson Companies’ former director of application development, was promoted to CIO. Fiserv named Jim Grech its new CIO. Grech was previously executive vice president of technology services for BNY Mellon. Neiman Marcus promoted Sarah W. Miller from vice president of enterprise applications to senior vice president and CIO. Danielle Brown was named vice president and CIO for Brunswick Corp. Previously, Brown was program leader of global IT transformation and productivity with DuPont. Phil Giusto is now CIO at Payless ShoeSource. Most recently, Giusto was CIO of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet. Gregory Zeh joined Weis Markets as vice president and CIO. Most recently, he held the same roles with Price Chopper supermarkets. Crawford & Company appointed Hilton Sturisky as global CIO. He was most recently the CIO of Spirit Airlines. Symetra Life Insurance Company promoted Joel C. Kneisley from vice president of technology to senior vice president and CIO. Michelle Talerico was promoted from CTO, senior vice president and director of special projects to senior vice president and CIO for Community Newspaper Holdings. Bentley Systems announced that Claire Rutkowski joined the company as CIO. Rutkowski was previously CIO with MWH Global. Karen Fedyszyn joined Glanbia Performance Nutrition as CIO. Fedyszyn was previously CIO advisor and IT team leader with NABCO Entrances. Yext hired Christopher Nelson as CIO. He previously served as senior director of IT business appplications for Splunk. Saad Bashir is now the CIO for the City of Ottawa. Previously, Bashir was the director of economic development and innovation for the same city. Rocana appointed Angela Yochem, CIO and senior vice president of IT at Rent-A-Center, to its board of directors.
