Latest group of new CIO appointments includes many women

In the latest installment of CIO Movers and Shakers, women continue to climb the ranks of IT.

Women made up 26 percent of the professional computing workforce and held 6 percent of corporate CIO positions at the end of 2014, according to the National Center for Women & Information Technology. And the numbers continue to trend upward year over year! In this edition of Movers and Shakers, I’m please to report a higher-than-usual number of women who earned new CIO positions.

Michelle McKenna-Doyle, CIO of NFL

Michelle McKenna-Doyle, senior vice president and CIO for the NFL, was recently appointed to the board of directors for both Ring Central and Insperity.

Boston Private Financial Holdings announced that Kim Stevenson, CIO of Intel, had been appointed to their board of directors.

NASA announced that Renee Wynn was appointed CIO. Prior to joining NASA in July as the deputy CIO, Wynn served 25 years with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Cindy C. Earhart was promoted to executive vice president of administration and CIO of Norfolk Southern Corp.

Kathleen Johnson was promoted to vice president and CIO of Federal Mogul Corp. She was previously the company’s vice president of IT services.

Sheryl Bunton joined Gulfstream Aerospace as vice president and CIO. Previously, Bunton was CIO at AGCO Corp.

Janet Cinfio was recently promoted from vice president of infrastructure and technology operations, to senior vice president and CIO of Acxiom.

And on to the new male CIOs …

jim fowler ge General Electric

Jim Fowler, CIO of GE

Jim Fowler has been promoted to CIO of GE. Previously, Jim was CIO for GE Capital.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles U.S. appointed Ryan Talbott as CIO for its NAFTA region. He was previously director of IT at the company.

Johnson Controls promoted Jeff Augustin from VP vice president of IT, to vice president and CIO.

Veritiv Corp. announced that Dave Hudson is now its CIO. Hudson was previously the chief business strategy officer and senior vice president of technology strategy for Amtrak.

Steve Mills is now CIO with iHeartMedia. He was previously the CIO od Motorola Mobility.

Chipotle Mexican Grill hired Curt Garner as its first ever CIO, and he starts Nov. 23. Garner is presently CIO for Starbucks.

Aurora Health Care hired Preston Simons as CIO. Simons was previously vice president of IT and CIO at Abbott Laboratories.

ServiceMaster promoted Jamie Smith from vice president of IT for its American Home Shield Division to ServiceMaster CIO.

Echo Global Logistics named Tim Kutz as its CIO. Kutz was previously with Veritiv.

Silicon Valley Bank hired Roger Leone as CIO. Previously, Leone held senior IT leadership roles at Pfizer and Bank of America.

Vertafore appointed Joe Magrady as CIO. Magrady previously served as vice president of IT at American Express and head of network services at Zurich Insurance.

Shank Shanmugabaskaran was appointed CIO at The RDI Group. He was formerly the company’s vice president of IT and business processes.

Lee Washington was named CIO with ABC Financial. Washington was previously the vice president of IT for Acxiom.
