How to quickly reset the keyboard dictionary in iOS 9 to remove incorrect words

iOS 9 has a useful auto-correct dictionary that keeps tracks of the words you use. Unfortunately, the dictionary will sometimes learn incorrect words and then those words will show up again via Auto-Correction. This can be very annoying when you see the same incorrect word appear time and time again via Auto-Correction.

But don’t worry, I’ll show you how can quickly reset your keyboard dictionary in iOS 9.

How to reset your keyboard dictionary in iOS 9

Just follow these simple steps to reset your keyboard dictionary in iOS 9:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Tap on General.

3. Tap on Reset.

4. Tap on Reset Keyboard Dictionary.

5. Type in your password.

6. Tap on Reset Dictionary.

And that’s it, now your keyboard dictionary is clean and pristine. Any incorrect words you’ve taught it in the past have been removed and you won’t have to deal with them again in Auto-Correction.

Resetting the keyboard dictionary is definitely worth it

I’ve found that it’s absolutely worth the little bit of time it takes to reset the keyboard dictionary. For the longest time I wasn’t even aware that I could do it, so I just kept putting up with incorrect words appearing via Auto-Correction, and I never knew I could easily fix them.

For example, if your keyboard dictionary has incorrectly learned “welll” instead of “we’ll” then you’ll see that appear sometimes. If you’ve used your iOS device for a long time then you may have taught the dictionary many incorrect words, and it can be quite maddening to see them appear over and over again while you are typing an email or text message.

But once I finally realized that I could simply reset my keyboard dictionary, it was like night and day for me. I got rid of a bunch of screwed up words that I’d kept having to deal with over and over again. And I found that I could write faster and without the slowdowns of those incorrect words appearing in my text via Auto-Correction.
