How to remove cookies, data, and browsing history from Safari's cache in iOS 9

Safari has proven to be a terrific browser in iOS 9, and some folks that were using other browsers such as Chrome have switched back to Safari. But even the best browser can build up a lot of data and cookies in its cache, and you’d be surprised at how much storage space that can take up on your iPad or iPhone.

In this how-to I’ll show you how to get rid of all of the cookies and data in Safari’s cache, and I’ll also show you how to clear your browsing history in Safari.

How to clear cookies, data and your browsing history from Safari in iOS 9

Just follow these steps to remove your browsing history, cookies and data from Safari’s browser cache in iOS 9:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Scroll down and tap on Safari.

3. At the bottom of the screen, tap on Clear History and Website Data.

4. Tap on Clear History and Data on the pop-up menu to complete your removal.

And that’s it, now all of the cookies, web site data are gone from Safari’s browser cache. And all of your previous browsing history has also been removed.

A few other things about Safari’s settings screen

Being able to remove the cookies, data and browsing history in Safari is great, and it can save you some storage space on your iOS device. But be sure to check out the rest of the settings in Safari too.

I recommend turning on Do Not Track and also tapping on Cookies and Website Data then choosing Allow from Websites I Visit so you can block third party cookies. It’s also a good idea to toggle the Fraudulent Website Warning to the on position if you haven’t already done so.

And be sure also to scroll up and look at the General section. There you will find a Block Pop-Ups option that can help you avoid annoying pop-up ads on Web pages.

Safari in iOS 9 is a great web browser, but if you tweak its settings it can be even better. And it can provide a significantly improved and safer browsing experience.
