Volume of new CIO appointments continues to trend upward As we get ready to close out the first half of 2015, and have now officially begun summer, we continue to see a strong showing of new CIO hiring – as well as a highly visible CIO board of directors appointment – across all industries. LinkedIn McKesson named Kathy McElligott as executive vice president, CIO and CTO, effective later this summer. Kathy will succeed Randy Spratt, who is retiring after 29 years of service with McKesson. Walgreens announced that Anthony Roberts, Senior VP & International CIO, will transition to the role of Senior VP & Global CIO for Walgreens Boots Alliance following the upcoming departure of Timothy Theriault. Cisco Systems has promoted Guillermo Diaz Jr. to the role of CIO. Guillermo was previously SVP, Connected IT with Cisco and fills the CIO position previously held by Rebecca Jacoby, who has transitioned to a new role. Blane Peery has joined Tesoro Corporation as CIO, filling the role that was previously held by Marlee Perez. Blane joined Tesoro from Mylan, where he served as Vice President, Global Business Services Nike has named Jim Scholefield its new CIO. Jim was most recently Chief Technology Officer for The Coca-Cola Company. Air Products has promoted Alyssa Budraitis from Director, IT Service Delivery to Chief Information Officer, filling the role that was previously held by Kevin Michaelis. Eileen Mahoney was promoted from Senior VP, Retail Information & Technology to the role of Executive VP & Chief Information Officer with Phillips-Van Heusen. Biogen announced that Matt Griffiths was named senior vice president and chief information officer. Matt was previously Vice President, IT Pharmaceutical Operations & Technology with Biogen. Rajesh Nagarajan is the new CIO with Celanese, replacing Mike Jackson, who is now Europe Shared Services Leader with Celanese MultiCare Health System has hired Dr. Robert Biernbaum as Chief Information Officer. Keith Sherwell has been named Chief Information Officer at Cablevision. Keith was previously CIO with Office Depot. Yahoo! Has promoted Laurie Mann to CIO, replacing Mike Kail, who stepped down after less than a year with the company. Barry Libenson, formerly the CIO of Safeway Inc. is the new global CIO for Experian, reporting in to Chief Operating Officer Kerry Williams. Barry will manage the company’s global IT strategy. Vish M. Narendra recently joined Graphic Packaging as CIO. Previously, Vish was CIO at Alstom Integration, a GE Power & Water business. Charlie Lickfold has been hired as Chief Information Officer with Gilbarco Veeder-Root. Gary Morris was promoted from Director, Information Technology (Components Group) to Chief Information Officer with Moog. Andy Dulka has recently been promoted from Vice President, Retail Systems & Enterprise Architecture to CIO with Regis Corporation. At Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, Carl Christensen has transitioned from the role of CTO and now serves as the organization’s Vice President and Chief Information Officer. AARP has promoted Amy Jean Doherty from VP, Customer Service & Solution Delivery to acting CIO. Amy has been with AARP since December 2011. TriHealth has announced that John Ward, Director, Ambulatory Systems & Interim CIO has been promoted to the permanent role of Chief Information Officer Georgetown University announce that Judd Nicholson has been appointed interim CIO, replacing John Zangardi. Shell Federal Credit Union announced that Sam James is their new Chief Information Officer. He was previously with Mobiloil Credit Union. Brian McHale has been named Chief Information Officer with American Apparel. Jeffrey Kent has been named the new CIO, replacing Robert Hess, with restaurant holding company American Blue Ribbon. Health First announced that Alex Popowycz recently joined the company as Chief Information officer. Dennis Rice is the new Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Innovation with AmeriCares. Englewood Hospital and Medical Center named Dimitri J. Cruz to the position of vice president of information technology and chief information officer. Dain Bussewitz was named Executive VP, Chief Financial Officer & Chief Information Officer at Jockey International, following the departure of Frank Schneider. Previously, Dain was Vice President, Finance at Abercrombie & Fitch. Sonus Networks promoted William Parks to the role of Chief Information Officer following the departure of Bill Scudder. Previously, Parks served as the company’s Senior Director, Enterprise Applications. First Financial Credit Union hired Scott Varga as its new Chief Information Officer. Reed Smith has named Steven Agnoli as chief information officer. Steven was previously with pharma giant Mylan. SIGMAnet has appointed Apo Hagopian as CIO & SVP of Professional Services. Apo will bring a broad range of IT initiatives to support the company’s customers and employees. Cadence Bancorp announced that Tom Clark has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Gregory Smith is the new CIO and VP of Operations and Technology for ASHP – the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, located in Bethesda, Maryland. Richard Brennan has joined TransFirst as CIO, following the departure of Craig Page. Prior to joining TransFirst, Richard was SVP, Information Technology at AIMCO. Massage Envy named George Hines as CIO, reporting to Dave Crisalli, president and chief executive officer for Massage Envy. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center has named Matthew Trunnell as Vice President and Chief Information Officer, as of August 31. And finally, Dun & Bradstreet has appointed General Motors’ Randy Mott, SVP and CIO, Global Information Technology, to its Board of Directors.
