The community now consists of more than 280 commercial partners, as well as tens of thousands of developers, students, entrepreneurs and other enthusiasts that are generating up to 3 billion monthly API requests on Watson.

Media & Entertainment: MusicGeek is transforming music discovery

Decibel Music Systems is focused on music discovery. Its new IBM Watson-powered MusicGeek app uses Watson analytics to identify musical connections and trends from publications, blogs and social media. It then combines the insights gleaned with Decibel’s data to provide users with new song and artist recommendations.

Oil & Gas: Polus is streamlining incident management and compliance

Arria NLG specializes in Natural Language generation (NLG) systems, which take the information in raw data and automatically express it in natural language, either in text or voice. It has combined its NLG asset management application with IBM Watson’s questioning-answering capabilities to create Polus, an app that operates in the domain of leak protection and repair. With Polus, the engineers operating chemical plants or oil refineries can query document sets around legislation related to fugitive emissions, with an eye toward mitigating risks and ensuring compliance.

Travel & Hospitality: Rev1 is helping concierges address guest needs

Premium concierge company Go Moment has created a mobile guest engagement app called Rev1, which uses Watson’s natural language processing and Q&A capabilities to support hotel concierge and front desk staff in addressing the needs and inquiries of guests. The Line Hotel in Los Angeles went live with the platform in March.

Mental Health: Talkspace is matching patients with therapists

The idea behind Talkspace is to make therapy available to everyone by providing access to licensed therapists via private chat on your computer or mobile device. Talkspace uses a Watson-powered online platform to best match patients with licensed therapists by providing real-time insights about the patient’s personality, thinking style and emotional stress.

Engineering: GoFetchCode helps engineers make decisions

ENGEO is a provider of geotechnical, environment and hydrologic engineering. It has built an app called GoFetchCode that builds on IBM Watson’s cognitive and natural language processing capabilities to read and find answers about regulatory questions in millions of pages of federal, state and local codes.

Healthcare: CafeWell Concierge is giving guidance to heart patients

The mission of Welltok, provider of the CafeWell Health Optimization Platform, is to organize the growing spectrum of health and condition management programs, apps and digital tracking devices to help health managers partner with consumers. It has developed the IBM Watson-powered CafeWell Concierge app, which gives individuals personalized guidance to help manage and optimize their health. The app analyzes a patient’s health conditions, interests and goals to provide recommendations. Centura Health, a healthcare network of hospitals, senior living communities, physician practices and clinics and more in Colorado and western Kansas, is using the app as part of its Centura Health Heart and Vascular Network.

Personalized Health: hc1 Patient Insights helps healthcare workers deliver personalized care

7 personalized health specializes in CRM for healthcare. Its new hc1 Patient Insights app uses IBM Watson’s cognitive computing technologies to analyze various data sources — from emails and social media to surveys — for personality insights. It then provides those insights to physicians and other care givers to increase patient retention, identify and address at-risk populations and help professionals deliver personalized experiences to patients. Indianapolis-based Eskenazi Health is using the app to better understand its patient population.
