TGIF!

Last month I reported that Elinor MacKinnon had been promoted to CIO at Blue Shield of California, thanks to a tip from a reader.  Blue Shield put out a press release yesterday announcing MacKinnon’s promotion, so I have more info on her background.  She joined Blue Shield in 2004 as vice president of application services.  During her short tenure, she helped develop the organization’s three-year IT strategy and contributed to the upcoming launch of a portal that will help insurance brokers serve their clients.  Prior to Blue Shield, MacKinnon served as interim CIO at flu-vaccine manufacturer Chiron.  She reports to Blue Shield’s CFO Heidi Kunz.

Beth Nordin joined CHS, a diversified energy, grains and food company, as its vice president of information technology.  She comes to the Inver Grove Heights, Minn.-based company from Capella Education, where she was vice president of operations.  Prior to Capella, Nordin worked for Pearson Education as its senior vice president of information technology and CIO.
