I’ve got some good dish today.  But before I get to it, I want to thank my readers for their loyalty, their kind feedback and their tips.  Special thanks to the readers who provided me with today’s news.

Steven Brigham will be leaving his post as CIO of boot-maker The Timberland Co. His last day is October 31st.  I’ve learned that he’s leaving the Stratham, N.H.-based company to take a position with another company heading up its distributon and logistics function in addition to serving as its CIO.  (I can’t reveal the name of Brigham’s new employer until November 1, so stay tuned.)  Brigham had worked in business operations previously for Adaptive Broadband and wanted to get back into business functions.

A different source informed me of a management change at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island.  After being sans permanent CIO since Fall 2004, the health insurance provider has hired one E.J. Southerland (sp?) as its new CIO.  My source tells me Southerland succeeds Lance Kirk, who had served as interim CIO after its last “permanent” CIO, David Zink (pictured at left), left.  I interviewed Zink about a year and a half ago when BCBS of RI was named a CIO 100 honoree.  Zink did a yeoman’s work transforming BCBS of RI’s IT department.  I should have more info on Mr. Southerland on Monday.

Have a good weekend!
