Thank heavens for secondary sources: Today’s crop of announcements come from Government Technology, Government Computer News and The Journal Record of Oklahoma City. Government Technology reported last week that New York State CIO James Dillon (pictured at left) announced that he would retire from his post on December 9, 2005. (Is it me, or does this guy not look old enough to retire?) Dillon has served as CIO for the Empire State since January 2002. He was appointed by Governor George Pataki. Government Technology recently interviewed Dillon about his accomplishments and plans upon leaving state government. I interviewed Dillon for an article on how state CIOs were dealing with budget cuts in 2002. Government Computer News reports that Bruce Brody is leaving his post as associate CIO for cybersecurity at the Energy Department. (What would I do without Government Computer News?)
