Google Morphs Into Multifaceted Juggernaut

It took just seven years for Google to evolve from a bare-bones online search engine to an IT Borg that seems to assimilate another interesting technology every other week. An Associated Press article on WashingtonPost.com reports that thanks to $7.1 billion in shareholder support, Google is now positioned to head down a number of different paths including Internet driven computer platforms, a free wireless network or archiving every book ever written. While Google’s long-term goals may be obscure, there’s a consensus on one overarching point: “Google wants to be everywhere that people are,” said Danny Sullivan, who has followed the company closely as editor of the industry newsletter Search Engine Watch.
