Thanks to my friends at Korn/Ferry who gave me this big scoop: Gordon C. Steele of Nike fame is now at Newell Rubbermaid.  Steele, who resigned as Nike’s CIO in January of this year, replaced John M. Avampato as the Atlanta-based manufacturing company’s CIO.

Sam Coursen left his post as CIO of NCR to join Freescale Semiconductor as its vice president and CIO.  During his seven year tenure as NCR’s CIO, Coursen reengineered the company’s IT by standardizing, consolidating, centralizing and outsourcing various systems and services, and he established an IT governance process.  I wonder how much his departure from NCR was influenced by the arrival of a new CEO in August following Mark Hurd’s defection to HP?

And last but not least…the new CIO at Fisher Scientific is Jim Breisinger.
