Government Computer News reported last week that Arthur Gonzalez has been appointed deputy CIO of the Internal Revenue Service.  Gonzalez comes to federal government from the private sector.  He most recently worked for Oxford Health Plans as its senior vice president and CIO.  Before Oxford, he served as a divisional vice president in charge of application development at Kmart.

The IRS has a history of burning through CIOs like light bulbs, only most light bulbs last longer than the CIOs who get hired there.   Hopefully Gonzalez and his boss, IRS CIO Todd Grams, will last longer—and be more successful—than their predecessors, who haven’t had much luck modernizing that agency.
