The summer is never the most active time for CIO moves, but Junes list brings with it some major new appointments. Jane Moran Jane Moran was recently named Global CIO for Unilever. Moran was formerly CIO of information services company Thomson Reuters, whom she joined in March 2004. She has replaced Willem Eelman who held the position at Unilever for over four years. Starwood Hotels & Resorts names former CIO of GE Capital, Martha Poulter, as its new CIO. Poulter will be a member of Starwood’s Senior Leadership Team and report to President and CEO Frits van Paasschen. She succeeds Roger Berry, who is set to retire in the end of June and will stay on as a consultant to Starwood through year-end to ensure a smooth transition. Guaranteed Rate, a mortgage lender, announced that Martin J. Logan has been named the company’s new CIO. Logan joined Guaranteed Rate from Amazon, where he was responsible for managing technology for Cloud Drive and software delivery across multiple platforms, most notably for the company’s Kindle and recently-launched Fire TV products. Please enter a valid email address Subscribe Paul Ramsay has been promoted from Acting CIO to CIO at Lowe’s Companies, Inc. Ramsay joined Lowe’s in 2011 with more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry. Ramsay has served Lowe’s SVP of IT infrastructure and operations and was named SVP of IT for Lowe’s U.S. home improvement business in 2013. Ellen Barker has been appointed to CIO at Texas Instruments. Barker succeeds Brian Bonner, who is retiring after 33 years at the company. Barker first joined TI in 1984 and progressively served a number of leadership roles, including her most recent post as the controller for the Silicon Valley Analog business in Santa Clara. Steve Cooper joined the Commerce Department as the next CIO. Cooper’s most recent government post was with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he was named deputy CIO in October 2011. Cooper had joined the FAA in September 2009 as the CIO of its Air Traffic Organization (ATO). Ace Hardware tapped Karen Fedyszyn as VP of IT and CIO. She will report to CFO Bill Guzik. Fedyszyn spent the last 14 years as an executive leader at HSBC, most recently as SVP of IT for HSBC’s United States group after serving as EVP and global head of delivery while living in Hong Kong.
