Thanks to the reader who filled me in on this news: Karl Taylor has left CVS. (Taylor’s bio and photo remain on CVS’s web site.)  Taylor had served as the Woonsocket, R.I.-based drug store chain’s CIO since July 2002.  Jon Roberts is the new SVP and CIO.

William Wied joined Electronic Clearing House (ECHO) as its new CIO.  He succeeds Steven Smith, who joined the company in November 2004 as CIO.  Wied comes to the Camarillo, Calif.-based provider of electronic payment and transaction processing services from TransCore in Scottsdale, Ariz. There, he served as director of software technology.  Previously, he was vice president of engineering at one of TransCore’s divisions, CarrierPoint.

Claims management provider Broadspire hired Patrick Funck as its SVP and CIO.  He most recently worked for CNA as its VP of information technology in charge of underwriting and claim initiatives.

Harvey Leffring was named DeVry’s new CIO.  He replaces James Ritchey, a consultant with Delta Initiative who had been serving as the education company’s interim CIO since its previous CIO, Bruno LaCaria, retired at the end of 2004.  Leffring, who reports to DeVry’s President and COO Daniel Hamburger, most recently served as CIO and VP of IT at Siegel Robert Automotive.
