Oracle to Boost India SMB Operations

Oracle’s vice presdient for Asia Pacific Derek Williams revealed the software vendor’s plans to to hire 1,400 employees for its sales, consulting and support operations in India, opening up shop in nine more cities.

AP reports that Oracle already employs 8,600 employees in six cities in India. Williams made the announcement at Oracle’s two-day conference on the future of information technology being held in Bombay today and tomorrow. Williams said the increased invement in India is focused on expanding Oracle’s footprint in the small and mid-sized market in towns and rural areas.
