Yahoo Newsconfirmed that Samsung Electronics is negotiating a contract to supply NAND flash chips to Sony, among other companies.

As the largest memory chip manufacturer, Samsung foresees an increase in the demand for the flash chips, as more people buy music players, digital cameras and cell phones. NAND chips are able to retain memory even when the device is turned off. Samsung began selling chips to Apple Computers in November, after the two companies signed a $500 million contract.
