Skype, the increasingly popular VoIP phone service, adds a new feature today: video calls.

As reported by IDG News Service, the upgraded software is downloaded from https://www.skype.com. The company says that Skype Video is compatible with almost any Webcam. To make video calls, both parties must have PCs with functioning Webcams and the Skype 2 software.

The video call works just like a voice call on Skype: the caller finds the log-in address of the person being called and clicks the green connect button on the bottom of the screen. If that person’s computer is connected to a Web cam, a video call is created.

As with computer-to-computer calls, the new video service is free.
