Skype, the increasingly popular VoIP phone service, adds a new feature today: video calls.

As reported by IDG News Service, the upgraded software is downloaded from The company says that Skype Video is compatible with almost any Webcam. To make video calls, both parties must have PCs with functioning Webcams and the Skype 2 software.

The video call works just like a voice call on Skype: the caller finds the log-in address of the person being called and clicks the green connect button on the bottom of the screen. If that person’s computer is connected to a Web cam, a video call is created.

As with computer-to-computer calls, the new video service is free.
