Wild Horse Pass, Arizona — The CIO|06 conference starts in full force today. In fact, this is just a quick post as I have to get dressed and get on over to the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort’s conference center to start the day’s eating– I mean, meetings. Food is a lubricant to the networking that goes on here, though, it must be said, and the quality of both so far seems great. There was an opening reception last night and I can say that the open and friendly conversations I was part of with several CIOs prevented me from tasting everything on offer…. Good chats with IT executives from Chevron Information Technology, MoneyGram, AARP, Chevron Phillips Chemical and others—ranging from sailboat racing to international relations, and including globalization, SAP integration, golf, CEO support of IT, Boston drivers and outsourcing. OK, time’s a-wasting, must go grab a bite before CIO Editor-in-Chief Abbie Lundberg introduces Paul Saffo, director of The Institute for the Future and moderator of the conference, who’ll talk about looking forward, and Martin Wolf, chief economics commentator and associate editor of the Financial Times, who’ll offer insight on why globalization can work. Stay tuned for postings after those presentations.— Sandy Kendall Related content brandpost Sponsored by Huawei Beyond gigabit: the need for 10 Gbps in business networks Interview with Liu Jianning, Vice President of Huawei's Data Communication Marketing & Solutions Sales Dept By CIO Online Staff Nov 30, 2023 9 mins Cloud Architecture Networking brandpost Sponsored by SAP Generative AI’s ‘show me the money’ moment We’re past the hype and slick gen AI sales pitches.
