TiVo, a firm that offers digital television recording products and services, said on Wednesday it has inked an agreement with startup Brightcove that will enable TiVo subscribers to obtain television-like programming via the Internet, Reuters reports.Cambridge, Mass.-based Brightcove helps television programmers to syndicate content for the Web and generate revenue from that content, according to Reuters.Specific terms of the agreement were not announced, but both companies said the deal will enable nearly every publisher of broadband video to automatically distribute content to TiVo subscribers via Brightcove’s Internet television service, Reuters reports. There is also the potential to generate cash using the service by inserting advertisements into the content, developing subscription plans and offering pay-per-view services, according to Reuters.All programming offered via the TiVo and Brightcove service will be free of charge at first, and it may contain advertisements, Reuters reports.
