Yahoo, the world’s second-largest search company, has added a translation service from AltaVista, called Babel Fish, to its portfolio of online services, AFX News Limited reports via Forbes.com.
The new Yahoo Babel Fish service can translate as many as 150 words each time it converts text, in nearly 40 different languages, AFX reports. The Agence France-Presse reported that Yahoo Babel Fish can also translate full webpages, according to AFX.
AltaVista created the Babel Fish application, and an earlier version is already available on the Internet. The new Yahoo version tweaks the existing edition by enabling the service to translate simplified and traditional Chinese characters, AFX reports.
