Novell on Friday said its SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 platform, which launched on July 17, was met with an extremely warm reception, with 165,000 Web surfers from across the globe downloading components of the platform within the first 10 days, according to a July 28 Novell release on InternetAdSales.com.The company claims SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 is “the best engineered, lowest cost and most interoperable platform for enterprise computing, from the desktop to the data center.”Novell also claims that some 286,000 unique visitors logged on to its customer center page to register and test some of the firm’s new subscription and software update services during the same period, according to the release. In addition, between the platform’s release and the date of the press release—from July 17 to July 28—more than 312,000 visits were made to the SUSE Linux Enterprise homepage, according to Novell. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Overall, Novell said a SUSE Linux Enterprise product was downloaded every five seconds on average since it became available. “We’re thrilled to see that the marketplace is just as excited about Novell’s new offerings as we are,” said John Dragoon, chief marketing officer with Novell. “With SUSE Linux Enterprise 10, Novell has delivered the only complete Linux solution from the desktop to the data center.
