Juniper Networks will outsource some manufacturing, logistics services and new product introduction work to Singaporean contract manufacturer Flextronics International, the companies said in a Wednesday statement.

The two companies will work together more closely all over the world on Juniper’s security and networking products, they said. Juniper said it hoped the partnership would help it maintain its global growth momentum.

Juniper, of Sunnyvale, Calif., is a global leader in networking and communications, while Flextronics is the second-largest contract manufacturer in the world.

Flextronics has announced a string of new deals recently, including an agreement with the Lego Group, maker of some of the most popular toys in the world.

The Singaporean company, which also produces Xbox 360 game consoles on behalf of Microsoft, is in a pitched battle against Taiwanese rival Hon Hai Precision Industry for the lead in the global contract electronics manufacturing business. Flextronics used to be number one, but Hon Hai took over the top spot a few years ago and has since extended its lead.
