Nvidia has seemingly won itself a major victory, as it will provide Apple Computer with multimedia chips for its next-generation line of video iPods—a significant blow to Broadcom, which previously supplied that chip for the Cupertino, Calif.-based company, EE Times reports.The news comes from American Technology Research analyst Satya Chillara, who discussed the shift in a new report, according to EE Times.“Based on our analysis, we believe Nvidia is designed into the next-generation vPod [or video iPod] socket at the expense of Broadcom,” Chillara said, EE Times reports. “We believe the Nvidia chip adds 3-D graphics functionality in addition to all of the existing features [such as H.264] that Broadcom supported with the existing vPod.” SUBSCRIBE TO OUR NEWSLETTER From our editors straight to your inbox Get started by entering your email address below.
