CA, formerly Computer Associates, named 51-year-old Alan F. Nugent its new chief technology officer, and he succeeds Mark J. Barrenechea, who left the software company in May along with a number of other executives, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Nugent will retain the title of senior vice president and general manager of CA’s enterprise systems management unit until the company can find a replacement, according to the Journal.

In addition to Nugent’s shift, 55-year-old Samuel Greenblatt, the company’s former senior vice president of technology, is CA’s new senior vice president of innovation, the Journal reports.

Barrenechea left his post at CA after only four months for a position with Garnett & Helfrich Capital, a private equity fund, according to the Journal.
