Apple is previewing a new look for its .Mac online mail service.

“The new .Mac webmail is coming soon, and you’ll feel like you’ve seen it before,” Apple explains.

The company’s service will in future sport a Mail-like interface just like the built-in Mail application of Mac OS X. It will support drag-and-drop, message flagging and keyboard shortcuts, and host a built-in address book.

Additional features will include a new feature called ’Dash’. This is basically a quick reply button that’s situated next to the message you wish to respond to.

For users on slow connections, another slight benefit will be seen in the way the service works: rather than reloading the web page, .Mac webmail will only refresh “the portion of the page that needs updating, instead of reloading the entire page.”
