Last week, Apple Computer Chief Executive Steve Jobs unveiled at the firm’s “It’s Showtime” event in San Francisco a device temporarily named ‘iTV’ that he said will enable users to wirelessly transfer content on their computers and the Web to their television sets.

This week, the Cupertino, Calif.-based firm is in talks with search behemoth Google over the potential to supply Google Video clips via Apple’s services, including iTV, Newsweek reports via MSNBC.com.

Google Consumer Product Chief Marissa Mayer told Newsweek that the two firms are indeed mulling the idea of offering the Mountain View, Calif.-based company’s user-submitted video clips via Apple’s services.

Jobs said last week the $299 iTV will not ship until next year, and he demonstrated at the event how a small, six-button remote can be used to control the device, which is roughly the size of a large paperback novel, according to Newsweek.

“The breakthrough came when we realized that we didn’t have to replace the set-top box,” Jobs said, according to Newsweek. “It’s OK if we adopt the DVD player as our model. Then you can hook up to anything. Just be like a DVD player that happens to play Internet videos.”
