F-Secure’s former chief operating officer (COO) is returning to the Finnish security vendor to become chief executive officer (CEO) after working for 18 months at Nokia.

Kimmo Alkio left F-Secure to become vice president of consulting and integration within networks. Before that, he was F-Secure’s chief operating officer.

Alkio will replace F-Secure’s founder and current CEO, Risto Siilasmaa, on Nov. 6.

Siilasmaa will remain with F-Secure, becoming chairman of the board. He plans to either start a new company or work in one of the largest global corporations, he said in a statement.

F-Secure, founded in 1988, makes security software for desktop computers and mobile devices and provides security services for ISPs.
