The Walt Disney Co.’s Buena Vista Game division on Tuesday said it is launching a new studio that will develop and create new video games inspired by Disney titles for Nintendo’s upcoming next-generation Wii gaming console, as well as its popular DS handheld system, Reuters reports. Nintendo Wii The new organization, dubbed Fall Line Studio, will employ Scott Novis, who led the group from Rainbow Studios that created the video game based on Disney/Pixar’s animated film Cars, according to Reuters. Novis will serve as Fall Line Studios’ vice president and general manager, Reuters reports.Nintendo is set to release Wii in the United States on Nov. 19, and in Japan a few weeks later. Nintendo in late October said it would offer up 62 games for the Wii system—32 of which will be new titles—before the end of the year.In related news, Sony will launch its next-generation game console PlayStation 3 in the United States two days before Nintendo releases Wii. The two firms will then go head to head with Microsoft and its Xbox 360 system—released a year ago—in a battle for supremacy in the next-gen game console space.
