African Internet Use on the Rise

A United Nations report shows Africans’ Internet access is modest but rising

31 percent: The estimated increase in Internet users worldwide from 2001 to 2002. (Total is 655 million.)

46 percent: The increase in Internet users in Africa from 2000 to 2001. (Total in 2001 was 6.7 million.)

14 percent: The increase in North America Internet users from 2000 to 2001. (Total in 2001 was 56 million.)
