European Union leaders reached an agreement on Friday to fight global warming, according to Reuters.

The agreement includes resolutions for:

  • cutting greenhouse gasses

  • developing renewable energy

  • boosting energy efficiency

British Prime Minister Tony Blair called the targets groundbreaking, and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said that Europe can gain first-mover advantage, while businesses worry that going “green” will cost competitiveness.
